Sony Electronics introduced the PFM42B1 SuperSlim monitor, a 42-inch flat panel display available in brushed silver or charcoal gray. ""The SuperSlim monitor is a bold new twist on image display,"" said Lisa Baldino, Marketing Manager of Display Systems for Sony Electronics Broadcast and Professional Company. ""With horizontal or vertical orientation, the unit can accommodate any display or presentation challenge. And, most importantly, the SuperSlim monitor provides a spectacular, high resolution picture in a slim, lightweight package design."" Sony's PFM42B1 features a high resolution 1024 x 1024 pixel display that offers clear images and superb detail, with a 160-degree viewing angle. Users can change aspect ratios from standard 4:3 to widescreen 16:9 format to accommodate DVD presentations and widescreen broadcasts. The monitor is equipped with an advanced scan converter that can intelligently reproduce a wide range of digital video signals (including SDTV and HDTV) and UXGA computer signals. The new unit is merely 3 1/4 inches thick and weighs 65.5 pounds. The SuperSlim monitor is well-suited for environments with high traffic, space limitations or aesthetic considerations since it can be mounted to the wall or ceiling with optional flat, tilt or rotating brackets that allow for easy conversion between horizontal and vertical orientations. Additional product benefits include a full-function remote, color temperature/dot phase adjustment to fine tune the image and 20 video memory settings to store data for a wide range of video sources for quick recall to speed monitor setup. The SuperSlim flat panel monitors are now available through authorized Sony resellers for a suggested list price of $7,999.
