New Sonance Navigator Harbor Expands The Navigator Line

23-Jan-01

Sonance, the Leader in Architectural Audioô, expands upon its Navigator keypad system with the introduction of the Navigator Harbor. The addition of the Navigator Harbor grows the system from the single source, multi-room to a multiple source, multi-zone whole house control system. Feeding up to six audio/video sources to six rooms, the audiophile-grade Navigator Harbor enables listeners in the living room to hear DVD-Audio while the radio plays CDs in the kitchen. ""Expanding upon the Navigator line, the Navigator Harbor provides consumers some of the features of the recently-introduced Navigator Network but at a lower price point,"" said Chip Brown, Chief Operating Officer, Sonance. ""This product not only grows Sonanceís electronics offerings but illustrates our commitment to provide consumers with up-to-the-minute technology solutions."" The Navigator Harbor provides a central termination for the system that is controlled through a receiver at the head end. Individual keypads in each room control the desired source in each zone, and the Navigator Harbor utilizes the Navigator master keypad as well as the auxiliary transport and numeric keypads for expanded control. The Navigator Harbor provides zone and global infrared and control voltages for system amplifiers. It also incorporates an input for paging and offers ""do not disturb"" options for each room, letting users contact or prevent contact from people in other areas of the house. There is a local IR flasher output for each zone that allows for independent zone/source equipment control, as well as six common IR flasher outputs for shared source equipment. A front panel display shows each zoneís status so users can see what source is employed in each zone. The system also has composite video output, and plug-in zone cards allow for easy replacement or upgrade of components without disturbing the entire system. The Navigator Harbor has duplicate RCA input jacks to link multiple Navigation Harbor systems. When linked, the systems allow users to control numerous sources in additional zones - for example, 12 sources/zones if two Navigation Harbors are connected, etc. The units work together seamlessly. The most flexible IR multi-zone expansion device in the industry, the Navigator Harbor will work with any brand of IR keypad, and it comes with the IR codes needed to program the Navigator Master keypad for easy startup. Available later this summer, the Navigator Harbor retails for $1,600. For more information, visit Sonance on the Web at www.sonance.com.
