About Widescreen Review
Launched in 1992, Widescreen Review magazine and Webzine is published by WSR Publishing, Inc., an independent publisher. Renowned throughout the world of enthusiast home theatre technology publications as "The Essential Home Theatre Resource," WSR advocates a home theatre experience that is "the best that it can be." The monthly magazine is distibuted nationally and internationally and is sold on select specialty magazine racks or obtained by subscription. The Webzine, located at www.WidescreenReview.com, currently handles over one million impressions per month, and is designed, administered, and served in-house.
Over the past eight years, Widescreen Review magazine has provided in-depth home theatre audio and video equipment editorial. A significant focus of the magazine has always been on audio presentation and setup for an optimal multichannel audio experience. With each monthly issue, WSR helps thousands create viewing environments in their homes that let them experience movies in high-resolution widescreen format with high fidelity surround sound the way the filmmakers want their work expressed.
This coverage carries over to DVD software, the movies themselves. Since 1992, Widescreen Review has reviewed every widescreen LaserDisc movie released, then in 1997, with the advent of a new home video format, extended its coverage to review every widescreen DVD as well. Now, the reviews are exclusively DVDs.
In January 1999, Widescreen Review expanded its commitment by going pro-active with its Web site (originally founded in 1995), which may well be the most extensive site on home theatre to date. The site features industry news posted daily, and a comprehensive "Find It Movies" section where users can search out details on widescreen format DVDs.
Review information is also being supplied to Amazon.com under special agreement for their movie databases and attributed to Widescreen Review. WSR also services other major Web sites such as DVDPlanet.com and GetPlugged.com.
The company's WebDVD Publications division has produced private label hybrid DVD-Video/ROM discs for such clients as Sony Electronics and DTS. The company is presently in development on several WebDVD disc projects including one for the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA) slated for release in early January 2001 at the International CES, the association's annual trade show.
