Dear Gary:Thank you again for inviting me to participate in the D-Theater™ Movie Festival. I attended the first session on Saturday. D-VHS® looked fantastic, but I am not sure it can sell only on that. The ability to record (time-shift) satellite or cable/off-air programs is an important feature, but I am not happy to learn that my Zenith DTV 1080 DirecTV®/ off-air receiver will not work with it. It was a $900 purchase this past winter and well worth it because of its ability to pull in all of the Los Angeles HDTV channels at my home in Carlsbad, California with an attic antenna. I’m not ready to have to buy another, as well as the D-VHS machine.I think the other necessary piece of the success puzzle will be the availability of rental D-VHS movies. That will make it a winner in my mind.Besides the opportunity to see the movies and experience your outstanding theatre, I especially enjoyed listening to Joe Kane’s comments and then having the opportunity to speak with him during lunch. I have seen his demonstrations at various shows over the last four years as well as demos by others. He is head and shoulders above the rest. An article by him in the magazine on a regular basis would be great. Even better would be a periodic list of his recommended video components. There are too many people writing about video projectors and displays who don’t tell the whole story in their reviews.

Editor-In-Chief Gary Reber Comments:
I was pleased that you and the other enthusiasts were able to embrace the opportunity to experience D-VHS D-Theater “HD-plus” quality in our Reference Holosonic™ Home Theatre Laboratory.Joe Kane will be contributing to WSR in future issues, and Greg Rogers will continue to serve as WSR’s great Video Technical Editor. I believe Greg to be the most knowledgeable video technical editor there is, as his articles and reviews have consistently demonstrated.
