Dear Gary:I love your in-depth coverage on D-VHS. I’m in the UK and will be ordering a JVC deck and all the films you offer! To avoid a costly upgrade, can you advise me when the machine will offer DTS capability? (Am I being sensible to wait for this? Will films come out in DTS?) Also, will normal Dolby Digital decoders accept the higher bit rate of 576 kilobits per second (kbps) available in Dolby Digital or will they downmix to 448 kbps? What power does the unit use? How much juice will my 110 to 240v transformer need to stop me blowing up machines? Will you ship tapes abroad? Will it record a Dolby Digital signal in digital? Your articles don’t mention this and it doesn’t appear to have TOSLink/coaxial inputs? Please help me. There’s nowhere else to turn. JVC has not returned my e-mails. I subscribe to Widescreen Review and many non-U.S. residents will appreciate your answers.Keep up the good work!

JVC Japan is currently working on the software upgrade for DTS. I don’t know any other details at this time. As soon as I know I will post them on www.WidescreenReview. com and www.DVHSMovieGuide.com.The machine is strictly 110.All Dolby Digital decoders will accept a bit stream up to 664 kbps. The HM-DH30000U will record in 5.1 DD through the IEEE 1394 interface. The digital audio output is limited to TOSLink.Yes, we ship tapes abroad.
