Dear Gary:I have a dilemma. I have a SACD player that I love but I also have a DVD-Audio player that I’d like to continue using as well. My receiver has only one six-channel input. What to do? I don’t want to spend time swapping cables.I was thinking of using six high quality Y-connectors to connect both components. Will this work? There’s also a wild card in my dilemma to consider. My SACD player has full bass management capabilities while my DVD-Audio player does not. I use an Outlaw ICBM with my DVD-Audio player. How can Iuse all these components without going crazy?

There are several high-end audio products out there that offer the capability to switch between multichannel six-channel sources, as well as dedicated preamp capability, but they are very expensive. However, if you are thinking of upgrading to high-end separate components in the future, considering one of these might be a viable option. McCormack, R.E. Designs, Sony, and even the pro audio company EMMlabs are amongst those offering such products. The use of Y-connectors should therefore be a reasonable solution for your needs. However, I would suggest that you bypass the internal bass management for your SACD player, and have both the SACD and DVD-Audio players routed into the Outlaw Audio ICBM-1.
