Monster Power Contest Winner

Dear Gary: Funny enough, I was taking some quiet time after Christmas and was catching up on my reading. Going through the January WSR issue and wondering why in the heck I didn’t go on the 2003 Home Theater Cruise after reading the synopsis, I glanced down to see I had won the most recent drawing for the Monster Power Giveaway! What a great Christmas present for our home theatre! Anyway, I wanted to personally thank you for not only giving me the opportunity to win this great piece of home theatre equipment, but also for the great (and I mean great) work you do at WSR. I’ve been in the computer field for going on 30 years and have worked to advance the state of computer technology in industry groups and standards forums. Seeing how the audio and home theatre worlds are evolving as they move to digital is both fascinating (due to the parallels to the computer world) and frustrating (as we watch things like the HD DVD standards get bogged down in vendor politics, etc.). I know it is people like you and the many industry folks around you that drive through these issues and also do a great job of keeping interested consumers informed of what is going on. If all I wanted was what the latest gadget looked like and reprints of vendor spec sheets, I can get that from Sound & Vision or Home Theater magazines—not that I don’t like that as well, but your content is different in a meaningful way. Thanks again for a great publication—and especially for this great Christmas gift!
