Dear Gary,I am currently deployed with a U.S. Army Forward Surgical Team providing anesthesia in Iraq. For several years I have been an avid reader of Widescreen Review. Articles, such as the step-by-step construction of the Reference Holosonic™ Home Theatre Lab and this month’s “The Future Of Prerecorded HD Formats” are examples of the depth that no other publication of this kind achieves. Prior to leaving stateside, I had just built a home and was starting my first dedicated home theatre. Previously, spaces such as the living room or bonus area had always doubled for the theatre. Your publication helped tremendously when I worked with my builder on the construction of my dedicated room, whom, to my surprise, was enthusiastic about the construction challenges and details of such a space. And, I also used it with my audio advisor on room acoustic treatment and front projection setup. Although all that is on hold until I return, my wife still sends me current issues in her care packages to me.Many of my fellow soldiers are very interested in home theatre. However, I have found they are intimidated and overwhelmed with the diversity in technologies, formats, equipment, and compatibility issues. I am frequently asked where I learned about these things. I just direct them to my copies of Widescreen Review and tell them that WSR is the most comprehensive and dedicated magazine of its kind for the audio/theatre enthusiast. This is probably why I will not see again the copies that I have lent out. The in-depth articles on technologies, real world reviews of equipment, and most importantly a staff that not only reports but also seems to be a part of the industry and has a true passion for great audio and home theatre, is why I love Widescreen Review.I cannot wait to get home to finish my home theatre. To be lost in the story of a movie and sharing that with friends and family is what it is all about. Okay....the smiles and excitement on their faces from the “wow factor” of a good home theatre is also rewarding. Thanks for a great publication.
