Louis (Jackson) and Floyd (Mac) are two estranged soul singers who are out of shape and out of practice. The Soul Men set off on a cross-country journey to perform a tribute concert at the legendary Apollo Theatre—settling their 25-year-old grudge along
the way. (Gary Reber)

Special features include audio commentary by Director Malcolm Lee and Writers Matt Stone and Rob Ramsey; the featurette The Soul Men: Bernie Mac & Samuel L. Jackson (HD 09:30); The Cast (HD 07:42); Director Lee's take on the film (HD 02:50); A Tribute To Bernie Mac (HD 07:26); Boogie Ain't Nuttin': Behind-The-Scenes (HD 02:31); Bernie Mac At The Apollo (HD 04:17); and the theatrical trailer.

The 2.40:1 1080p AVC picture exhibits a colorful palette, with rich hues. Fleshtones are accurately rendered. Resolution reveals fine facial pores and detailed textures and fabrics. At times, the image is nicely dimensional. Blacks are solid and shadow delineation is excellent, as is contrast. Overall, this is a well-rendered picture with a natural look throughout. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby® TrueHD 5.1-channel soundtrack is conventional throughout, but the music is a pure joy and is nicely recorded with an aggressive surround presence. Dialogue, often ADR-produced, is intelligible and, at times, it integrates spatially with interior scenes. At other times the soundstage collapses to monaural with no dialogue support. Bass response is limited to the beat of the music, with virtually no low-frequency effects. The music often rocks with a delightful soulful beat, which nicely complements this tribute to past soul men. (Gary Reber)
