The Lords Of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Moon), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a "gift from the Lords." Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town's violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the "Lords Of Salem" returning for revenge in modern-day Salem? (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture is hauntingly dark throughout, with deep blacks and shadow delineation that is revealing in extremely low-light stylization. Lighting is effectively used in the production to create mood and suspense, as well as terrifying images. The color palette is naturally hued with touches of filtering to create Salem's freaky past. Fleshtones appear natural, though, at times are slightly muted for effect. The increasing intensity of the nightmares enhance the horrific imagery. Resolution is generally well defined. Contrast is also well balanced. This is a hauntingly scary picture with cinematography that enhances the ever-building terror. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby® TrueHD 5.1-channel soundtrack is well produced with an intense music score that emotionally heightens the terror that unfolds. The music is widely and deeply immersive in the soundfield, with varied instrumentation, including choral voicings. Atmospherics and sound effects are supportive as well. Deep bass support is substantial, with extension at times to sub-25 Hz frequencies. Surround envelopment is aggressively enveloping. Dialogue is consistently intelligible and decently integrated spatially. This is an effective sonic treatment that is emotionally sensitive to the haunting imagery. (Gary Reber)
