WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Newsies is an entertaining, feel-good, high-energy turn-of-the century music and dance movie based on the true story of a courageous group of striking newsboys who stand up against a powerful and unscrupulous newspaper tycoon wittingly played by Robert Duvall.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture quality is pristine, sharp and film-like in appearance without a spot of noise artifacts. The aspect ratio is 2.35:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
What really knocked me out was the Dolby® Surround music score recording engineered by Bruce Botnick. It is fabulous! It all feels very Broadwayish with a chorus of singing and dancing male youth. The incredible bass response extends down to a solid 32 Hz in the musical numbers! If you have the system, the musical presentation on this LaserDisc is sure to please.
