WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Rich In Love is a sensitive family drama from the producers, director and writer of Driving Miss Daisy. The story is about the growth and maturity of each of its members after being left by the wife and mother (Jill Clayburn) to start a new life. Albert Finney stars as Warren Odom who as a retired husband of 27 years refuses at first to acknowledge his wife’s departure, but eventually after facing and coming to grips with reality discovers a new zest for life. The two daughters played by Kathryn Erbe and Suzy Amis face their own challenges before finally heading for their own new path in life.

LaserDisc Picture:
The composition and picture quality are first-rate. It was matted at 1.80:1. Everything looks real with natural flesh tones and excellent color fidelity. The resolution is on a parity with that of the best LaserDiscs. There is absolutely no video artifacts to mar the beautiful images. Contrast is excellent with deep blacks and well defined shadow detail. This is a real treat for the eyes.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is sure to please but undistinguished. It lacks a natural sense of surround envelopment in scenes which could have heightened the drama and involve the viewer even more. Dialogue intelligibility however is excellent.
