WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Hear No Evil stars Academy AwardŽ winner Marlee Matlin (Best Actress 1986 for Children Of A Lesser God) as a woman who has resourcefully bridged the gap between her deafness and the hearing world who becomes caught in a complex web of deceit, robbery and murder. The conspiracy involves the theft of a rare coin engineered by a corrupt police detective played by Martin Sheen. Lots of excitement and many plot twists ensue. Well acted and paced for tension, this thriller is sure to please adults.

LaserDisc Picture:
Visually the presentation quality of this 1.85:1 transfer is inconsistent. Colors are great, flesh tones are good most of the time, and many shots (particularly outdoors) look terrific. Some scenes, however, exhibit noise and look out of focus. There are other occasional slight video artifacts throughout as well that impair the picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is generally good particularly the portrayal of a deaf world. Surround effects are good but seldom used effectively. A more consistent and aggressive use of surround would have heighten the suspense and involved the viewer more.
