WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
An action-packed thriller about a sinister, maniacal psychopathic killer obsessed with getting back an an ex-cop (now an L.A. district attorney) for having put him behind bars. Lithgow is great as the psycho; Washington puts in his perfunctory performance as the attorney.
LaserDisc Picture:
The scope 2.35:1 aspect ratio has been preserved with a transfer that is very film-like in appearance. The picture quality is pristine and the color fidelity and balance is excellent.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Alan Silvestri’s orchestrated music score is intense and dynamic and has been recorded superbly. The opening title sequence is gripping. The soundtrack was mixed in a THX® Sound System Theatre which is evident in its overall quality. The Dolby encoded surround is not particularly aggressive, but ambient throughout. The sound effectively sets the dark-luminous mood contrasts of the movie with excellent bass extension and punch.
