WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The classic fairy tale brought to animated life by the new wizards at Disney animation. The complete theatrical release plus “The Making of Beauty and the Beast,” a behind-the-scenes look at how the film was made.

LaserDisc Picture:
The digital video transfers are remarkable for their purity of color and balance. Originally photographed on Eastman film stock, the colors are stunning. The detail provides a very sharp image. There is not a trace of negative dust or noise artifacts. The transfer is matted at 1.66:1, the original theatrical projection aspect ratio.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The stereo separation is wonderful. The Dolby Surround® presentation provides an excellent sense of envelopment with superb depth and soundstaging. The soundtrack will play extremely well on home theatre systems with exemplary music reproduction capabilities. I particularly enjoyed the “Be Our Guest” sequence which was reminiscent of a Busby Berkeley spectacle but with animated characters stepping in time to the lively musical routines.
