WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
My Boyfriend’s Back is a quirky comedy about a teenager in desperate pursuit of the prettiest and most popular girl of his school. Johnny Dingle (Andrew Lowery) initiates his perfect plan to win the girl’s heart, but the scheme mishaps and proves fatal. Even so, Johnny’s determination seeps from the grave, stealing the show and the girl’s heart when he comes back from the dead as a walking corpse in just a slightly decaying body. It’s an outlandish, desperate and sick comedy (he must eat people to maintain his composure) but a lot of fun when you get into the spirit of it.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is a real looker with vivid color and natural fleshtones. Contrast is excellent as is black definition and shadow detail. Overall, the picture is sharp, grain-free, and bright with no artifacts to mar the image quality. The picture has been matted at 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
There are some great scenes that effectively use the surrounds, particularly the burial scene with its bass powerful organ accompaniment and the Judgement scene. The music is dynamic and enveloping.
