WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Another Stakeout has the original stars, Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Esteves reprising their roles as the wisecracking surveillance team and and introduces their new partner Rosie O’Donnell who plays an inexperienced Assistant DA, who bears the brunt of their banter. They are assigned to pose as a family while keeping watch on a summer home that may be the hideout of a on-the-run protection program witness and intended victim of a mob hit man. They bumble into contact with the neighbors who they believe are sheltering the target. The biggest laughs come as situations, such as when Dreyfuss and O’Donnell, pretending to be a couple, bluff their way through a dinner party, as the neighbor dinner guests become more convinced of their hosts’ insanity.

LaserDisc Picture:
The artifact-free picture is framed in a 2.0:1 aspect ratio. Scenes are presented a bit over-bright but resolution and sharpness is excellent. While fleshtones are slightly off, blacks are deep and shadow detail is superb.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is dynamic with deep bass and a subtle surround presence that with the music carries the movie.
