WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Red Dawn is the hypothetical situation of a communist invasion of the United States. The absurd story is about eight teenagers who escape to a mountainous area in Colorado seeking refuge as their small mid-western town is occupied by foreign nationals. In disparity, the youth wage a guerrilla attack in defense of their families and their community. Red Dawn is noted for being the first movie given the PG-13 rating.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 cropped picture on this transfer is marred by excessive grain even in daylight scenes. Detail, particularly shadow detail, is poor and fleshtones are generally inaccurate. Other artifacts, as well, result in a mediocre presentation.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a spacious music score and some effects are directionalized, but mostly monaural. The sound is overall veiled and fidelity is dated, but some battle scenes do open up in the surrounds.
