WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Father Hood stars Patrick Swayze as ex-con small-time crook, Jack Charles, who is once more in trouble with the law. This time he is awaiting sentencing for a drug-deal robbery, when his daughter Kelly, who has escaped from a juvenile care facility, arrives on his doorstep. Jack, not the family man type, has tried to keep out of his children’s lives, but Kelly talks of abuse at Bigelow Hall and asks for a transfer for herself and brother Eddie. After Jack’s transfer request fails to produce results, he kidnaps Eddie and takes both children on a wild cross-country chase to New Orleans, where he has the chance to make the biggest heist of his career.

LaserDisc Picture:
The artifact-free picture has been matted at 1.75:1. The image is extremely sharp and natural with excellent color fidelity and exceptional detail. Blacks are sharply defined and the shadow detail is superb. Fleshtones are rendered completely natural.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has an effective surround ambiance during the music that envelopes the sound field, but nevertheless most scenes are rendered in plain monaural.
