WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Robert De Niro (who also directs) stars as Lorenzo Anello, a hard-working bus driver raising his son amid the tough neighborhoods of the Bronx, New York in A Bronx Tale. His son, Calogero (Lillo Brancato at 17 and Francis Capra at age 9) witnesses local mob boss Sonny (Chazz Palminteri, based on his play) commit a murder. He keeps silent about the event, and Sonny in turn befriends him and introduces him to the benefits of the organized crime lifestyle—despite Lorenzo’s apprehensions.

LaserDisc Picture:
The perfectly solid picture has no noise or other artifacts to distract and has been matted at 1.85:1. Images are sharp with excellent resolution and shadow detail. Colors are well balanced and vibrant with excellent contrast and natural fleshtones.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is conventional movie stereo, but the surround track often delivers with subtle ambience. Dialogue is natural and always intelligible and the music score is wonderful.
