WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Mortal Thoughts is a twisted psychological murder thriller about two best friends caught up in a web of betrayal and deceit. Conveyed in a series of flashbacks, the story unfolds as a police detective (Harvey Keitel) questions housewife Cynthia Kellogg (Demi Moore) about the murder of her friend’s (Glenne Headly) violently abusive husband (Bruce Willis). Afraid of incriminating her friend, Cynthia carefully weaves a cover-up story which eventually threatens her own family and pits the two friends against each other.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at1.85:1. Noticeable grain results in images that ap-pear blotched, filtered and lacking in detail. Flesh tones are exaggerated overall, and colors are slightly oversaturated. Contrast and blacks are good for an overall pleasing picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has an excellent sense of surround envelopment in several scenes that effectively heightens the suspense. Mark Isham jazz-flavored score is well recorded and dynamic with great bass extension.
