WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Malice is a tense, twist and turn thriller with a vengeance starring Nicole Kidman as Tracy, the beautiful wife of Andy Safian, a college Dean played by Bill Pullman. Their life is perfect, until Andy rents a room in their old Victorian house to an old acquaintance, the charismatic Dr. Jed Hill (Alec Baldwin), over Tracy’s objections. Tracy desperately wants to have a child, and when she be-comes ill and has to have emergency sur-gery, Dr. Hill operates after Andy makes a tough last minute decision. Tracy recovers and blames both of them for ruining her life. She leaves Andy and has an affair with Dr. Hill. Nothing is as it seems, lies and de-ceptions abound as Andy unravels the puzzle of what happened to his idyllic world.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.78:1 matted picture is a little soft and grainy in dark scenes, but noise-free. Fleshtones are oversaturated and orangeish in hue. Some scenes appear out of focus with poor detail.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
A great music score and effective surround envelopment provide effective support for the suspense and drama.
