WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Flight Of The Innocent is the brilliant feature debut from Italian writer-director Carlo Carlei. Visually stimulating with beautiful style and cinematography, this explosive thriller focuses on the chaotic world that ten-year-old Vito (Manuel Colao) is caught in. The gentle son of a brutal kidnapper in Southern Italy, Vito witnesses the massacre of his family by a rival gang. Escaping to Rome, Vito begins a terrifying life on the run as he is maliciously pursued by the killers. Driven by his incredible courage and imagination, Vito searches for tranquility and a way to make amends for his father’s cruelty.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1. The filmmakers try to use color to create an artistic effect but overall color fidelity suffers from the slightly orange filtered effect and apparent grain. There are some weird color artifacts which create a blue tinge on the left side of the screen and fleshtones are inconsistent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is well produced and conveys excellent dynamics with a subtle surround presence.
