WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Miles & Quincy Live At Montreux is a remarkable musical achievement, a music video depicting Miles Davis’ final performance on July 8, 1991 (barely two months before his death) at the 25th anniversary of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The performance won the 1994 Grammy® for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Performance and Best Music Video—Long Form. Miles Davis pays tribute to his longtime collaborator, arranger/composer Gil Evans, with whom he created a record of timeless musical achievements. But credit is owed to Quincy Jones who persuaded Miles to revive and perform this music at Montreux.
