WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Music Of Chance, is an American Playhouse Theater production based on the novel by Paul Auster. The story is about a professional card player (James Spader) and his cash put-up associate (Mandy Patinkin) who antes up $10,000 to have Spader play a game with the two millionaires who are known to be the worst high-rolling amateur card players in the state (Charles Durning and Joel Gray). After an all night game the two easy money makers realize they have underestimated their hosts and are deeply in debt. To repay their debt they must build a wall across the estate’s meadow with the catch that it be constructed from 10,000 sixty-pound stones. This is tale of destiny and chance with an ensemble cast of veteran actors.
