WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the novel by Elizabeth McNeil, “9 1/2 Weeks” is a provocative odyssey of erotic passion and the love affair that breaks sexual taboos. Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger star as the sexual couple whose secret fantasies and desires come vividly to life on screen. Set in Manhattan, “9 1/2 Weeks” is the length of the affair between the two lovers. The film, directed by Adrian Lyne, is a steamy observation of love, obsession and rejection.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1. The cinematography is superb with scenes that will have you spellbound. Images are softly textured and slightly subdued. Flesh color is natural, and the shadow detail is excellent. The transfer is noise free with good contrast, and virtually no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The excellent soundtrack features a first rate selection of pop tunes by Grace Jones, Eurythmics, Joe Cocker and Bryan Ferry.
