WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Janet Jackson gives a promising debut performance in Poetic Justice, playing Justice, a poetry spouting, South Central Los Angeles woman who, after witnessing her boyfriend’s shooting death, inwardly shuts out the world. But after she is introduced to Lucky (Tupac Shakur), the mismatched pair are pushed together on a road trip to Oakland. The poetry in the film was written by acclaimed poet Maya Angelou.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is gorgeous looking with an extremely sharp image and excellent contrast. Flesh tones are always perfectly natural. Colors are vibrant, blacks are sharply defined, and the shadow detail is superb. There are no noise artifacts to mar this perfectly rendered transfer. The picture has been matted to 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is well recorded with consistent clear dialogue. Overall, it is very well balanced with a subtle surround envelopment. and an effective music score composed by Stanley Clarke.
