WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Son Of The Pink Panther is the long awaited sequel to Peter Seller’s Pink Panther series with Italian comedian Roberto Benigni in the title role, that of the bumbling Gambrelli. A variety of “Panther” characters show up including Herbert Lom in the role of Commissioner Dreyfus, along with his familiar twitch, and Burt Kwouk as the faithful manservant Cato. The bumbling, accident prone Gambrelli (Jacques Clouseau, Jr.) takes over the case of the kidnapped princess wrecking havoc along the way.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 2.35:1 framed picture features solid blacks and vivid colors with excellent contrast. Various artifacts are noticeable which has the effect of desharpening the picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack music by Henry Mancini is well recorded with excellent spatiality and depth. Otherwise the movie is essentially mono with little surround envelopment.
