WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Andrei Tarkovsky’s Andrei Rublev is a brilliant epic filled with mysticism and adventure. The story centers on the biography of Russia’s greatest icon painter, Andrei Rublev and depicts breathtaking and abstract landscapes as seen through the eyes of the artistic and idyllic hero observing suffering peasants, brutal nobles and his own hallucinations.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 2.35:1 black and white picture shows strain but conveys the quality of the film’s message.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The monaural soundtrack is undistinguished but presentable.
