WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Chasers is a routine military prisoner escort turned comic road adventure directed by Dennis Hopper, who has a small, but hilarious, appearance in one of his trademark weirdo roles. The story concerns two Navy Shore Patrol Officers (Tom Berenger and William McNamara) who are feeling burnt out on their jobs until they meet the feisty and beautiful Toni Johnson (former Playmate Erika Eleniak), the prisoner they’re supposed to escort to base. Toni’s determination to make a break for freedom manifests into frequent attempts which put the officers on their own personal odds to love and liberation.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.80:1 matted picture is clean and sharp with no artifacts, except for a very slight grain. Colors are vivid with deep blacks. Fleshtones are naturally rendered and both contrast and shadow detail is excellent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is well recorded, especially the music score which provides an effective surround envelopment. But so much opportunity was missed for a far more involving surround.
