WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Iron Will is an inspiring true life adventure about courage and determination. Set against beautiful yet rugged snowy scenery, a young man is faced with growing up fast when his father tragically dies. The passion he and his father shared in the sport of sled dogs, triumphs after the tragedy and the boy embarks on an incredible cross-country marathon race with his and his father’s dogs. Together they race through a treacherous and frozen wilderness, in hopes of winning the $10,000 grand prize that will save his family from financial ruin.

LaserDisc Picture:
A 1917 railroad train provided period settings for the snowy race scenes which are the picture highlights of this movie. The actual picture transfer quality is mediocre. It is grainy and fleshtones are rendered inconsistent from natural to excessively reddish in hue. The picture has been matted at 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features robust locomotive sounds which are well recorded spatially. The overall effect is a subtle Dolby Surround® ambience. While the subject matter lends it-self perfectly to a much more aggressive surround, the sound is nonetheless enjoyable.
