WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Winner of three Academy Awards®, Moonstruck is a charming comedy in which a mischevious moon enlightens the lives of many in New York City’s Little Italy district. In the hopes of healing the bad blood between her fiancé, Johnny (Danny Aiello), and his resentful younger brother, Ronny (Nicholas Cage); the weary Loretta Castorini (Cher, Best Actress Oscar® winner) invites him to the wedding. But while Johnny is away in Sicily, at his ailing mother’s bedside, Loretta and Ronny find themselves swept into a whirlwind romance.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture quality is superb with no artifacts to mar the 1.85:1 matted presentation. Images are sharp with excellent detail. Great, deep blacks and good shadow detail combine with good color fidelity and contrast, and fleshtones that are always natural looking.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is great with a nicely spatial and aggressive surround and a wonderful music score by Dick Hyman.
