WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Mr. Jones, is a romantic story starring Richard Gere in a memorable performance as the charming free-spirited, Mr. Jones who is an impulsive and irresponsible man in love with life. He is stricken with euphoria and lives one moment wildly happy and the next severely depressed. Swedish actress Lena Olin stars as a therapist who falls in love with her irresistible patient. Seduced by his generous philosophy of life she crosses the boundaries of doctor/patient conventions to explore the possibilities of forbidden situations. They are both swept away by the unconventional power of love and she is forced to choose between happiness or a career.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture appears to be sharp and clean in most scenes. Other scenes, however, are marred by noticeable grain or noise. Color is vivid with solid blacks and excellent shadow detail, highlighted by excellent contrast. Fleshtones are naturally rendered. The picture has been matted at 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is marvelous with an effective surround envelopment, a dynamic music score with an excellent spatial quality, and good dialogue intelligibility.
