WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Lelaina Pierce (Ryder) can’t understand why she can’t land a decent-paying job—she was valedictorian at her university. But featuring her closest friends—brilliant-minded slacker, Troy (Hawke); promiscuous Gap manager Vicki (Garofalo) and inhibited homosexual Sammy (Zahn)—she is ambitiously creating a documentary that looks at her generation’s attitudes about life, love and the pursuit of gainful employment. All the while Lelaina is trying to choose between Troy and yuppie Michael (Stiller), who can, one way or another, get her foot in the door of corporate America.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.82:1. Picture quality is excellent with accurate fleshtones, vivid color, and images that are sharp and detailed. Contrast and blacks are good for an overall pleasing picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features a number of popular artists’ recordings that provide a subtle surround presence to the otherwise mono mix with the occasional surround effect. The dialogue is annoyingly harsh and strident.
