WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Peter Medak’s Romeo Is Bleeding stars Gary Oldman (Bram Stoker’s Dracula) as Sgt. Jack Grimaldi, a voyeuristic cop who finds himself in a dangerous and twisted situation. For large sums of money, Jack had given up protected witnesses to the mob, but a deal backfires when the mob’s hired hit man gets caught and turns out to be a beautiful, yet tough and dangerous killer on the run (Swedish actress Lena Olin) with a penchant for sexual aggressiveness. Jack must bring her in but she has other plans which include getting scorchingly intimate with Jack.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1. The image is extremely sharp and natural with excellent color fidelity and detail. Blacks are sharply defined and the shadow detail is superb. Fleshtones are rendered completely natural. A slight grain can be detected in the dark scenes, but otherwise there are no artifacts to mar the picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has an effective surround ambiance during the music which is occasionally punctuated with a sound effect. The jazz score by Mark Isham is a treat.
