WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Stripes is a hilarious comedy starring the loveable comedic talent of Bill Murray as the out-of-luck John Winger, a man who joins the Army out of desperation. After he survives the worst day of his life that leaves him jobless, houseless, carless and girlless, the “new” Army never sounded better with all its benefits and freebies. But Winger doesn’t want to go in alone and convinces his wacky friend Russell Ziskey (Harold Ramis) to join too, setting the two off on an outlandish comical adventure that will have you buckled over in your seat with laughter.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.96:1. The picture is rendered with fleshtones that are hued on the pinkish side and thus un-natural in their appearance. Otherwise the picture has a natural look that has been filtered for a soft effect. Black definition is good and the overall image quality is clean with no glaring artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is highly compressed and bandwidth limited monaural. While dialogue is intelligible, it is harsh and annoying. Too bad the sound is not better.
