WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Wrestling Ernest Hemingway is a warm-hearted comedy about growing old. Robert Duvall and Richard Harris star with great cynical talent, Duvall as a reserved ex-barber and Harris as a former sea captain with an attitude who meet in a local park one afternoon in a quiet Florida town. These two men, at polar opposite ends of personality eventually warm up to each other to become the unlikeliest of friends in this charming and hilarious film co-starring Shirley MacLaine.

LaserDisc Picture:
The transfer is noticeably off center vertically but otherwise has no distracting artifacts, except for slight graininess in the dark scenes. The movie has a wonderfully natural look with especially naturally rendered interior scenes. Detail is excellent and fleshtones are accurate. The picture has been matted to 1.85:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Nothing special here for sound, just a conventional, well recorded soundtrack mix that misses every opportunity to provide surround envelopment for far greater impact. What there is, the music score provides. Dialogue is well recorded and always intelligible throughout.
