WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
My Father The Hero is a heartwarming comedy based on Mon Père, Ce Heros by Gérard Lauzier and stars Gerard Depardieu as Andre, an overprotective father on vacation with his 14-year-old daughter Nicole, (Katherine Heigi) in the beautiful island setting of the Bahamas. He wants to mend their strained relationship but overactive Nicole attempts to put a distance between herself and her father, especially when she meets and has eyes for a handsome young man named Ben (Dalton James). In trying to ap-pear more mature she tells Ben that she is with her lover, not her father. Soon the whole resort is buzzing, and her father is being shunned and doesn’t know why.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is framed at 1.75:1. It is very sharp and vibrant with excellent color fidelity, great contrast, good shadow detail and natural fleshtones. There is no apparent grain or artifacts to mar this terrific transfer.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Surround® soundtrack is undistinguished and conventional movie stereo with an unpronounced surround envelopment, mono dialogue and effects. Lots of music throughout to liven things up.
