WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Tommy is based on the rock opera by Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon and released by The Who on an album in 1969. It tells the tale of a boy (Daltrey) so traumatized by an event that he can no longer see, hear or speak. When he discovers pinball, though, he has amazing success and is regarded as a Messiah with thousands of screaming fans. Don’t miss Elton John’s HUGE platform shoes.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 matted picture has an inconsistent quality with some apparent grain, poor shadow detail and artifacts throughout. Fleshtones are natural and there is good detail and deep blacks in some scenes making for a somewhat pleasing picture.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has no spoken dialogue, just lyrics to music. Fidelity is wanting as the sound is thin and harsh.
