WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Guarding Tess is a comedy starring Shirley MacLaine as First Lady Tess Carlisle, an ex-president’s widow who seems to delight in making the lives of her secret service protectors miserable. Unbelievably, she is kidnapped while in the care of her protectors, and Agent Doug Chesnic (Nicolas Cage) is determined to solve the mystery and get her back.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture has been matted at 1.85:1. The picture quality is inconsistent, especially with respect to fleshtones. Color is vivid with deep blacks. Some slight grain and noise is visible but there are virtually no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
A conventional soundtrack with a well recorded full orchestral score, providing a wide soundstage along with good spatial ambient effects. Dialogue is excellent.
