WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
North, based on the novel by Alan Zweibel, is a fantasy comedy about an 11 year-old boy looking for perfect parents. North, played by Elijah Wood, is exceptional in all he pursues. He is an excellent student, athlete and perfectly mannered and appreciated by all except his parents, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jason Alexander who are too busy with their own lives. North becomes so troubled by the lack of attention that he be-gins the search for his ideal parents aided by a publicity seeking attorney played by Jon Lovits. He travels all over the world not knowing what he has created in his own neighborhood and family while all-the-time looked over by a mysterious guardian played by Bruce Willis. It’s full of exaggerations and lots of cameo appearances.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 matted picture is detailed and sharp with excellent contrast, deep blacks and fleshtones that are rendered natural. There is no apparent grain or noise artifacts for an exceptionally clean transfer.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
A dynamic and spatial music score is the highlight of the soundtrack.
