WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
That’s Entertainment III is a film about the golden era of MGM musicals. Notable excerpts from nearly 100 Metro musicals are featured along with nine of the brightest stars of the MGM legacy—June Allyson, Cyd Charisse, Lena Horne, Howard Keel, Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, Debbie Reynolds, Mickey Rooney and Ester Williams. Presented are a dazzling spectrum of production numbers so lavish that they would be impossible to finance today. This edition also contains a special added feature—an outstanding collection of behind-the-scenes footage and musical outtakes never before presented in theatres. Among the highlights is Judy Garland’s shelved stint as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, Lena Horne’s censored bubble bath scene from Cabin In The Sky, and Ave Gardner’s overdubbed vocals for “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man” from Show Boat (1951).
