WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Jason’s Lyric is a powerful drama of love and hope, and anger and revenge, on the streets of the inner city. When their father Mad Dog (Forest Whitaker) is brutally killed, brothers Jason (Allen Payne) and Josh (Bokeem Woodbine) become tightly bound by mutual responsibility. When Jason meets Lyric (Jada Pinkett) he puts the past behind him and starts dreaming of a better future for the two of them. She’s passionate, intelligent, sensual—everything he ever wanted. But one thing stands between Jason and his dreams, his responsibilities to Josh, who has memories that weigh him down. As Josh moves deeper and deeper into crime his desperation could destroy them all.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is matted at 1.85:1. Images are sharp and detailed, and natural with accurate fleshtones. Some slight noise and artifacts are apparent but otherwise the picture quality is sure to please.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is conventional, but some of the effects provide envelopment and good dynamic bass extension.
