WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Timecop, based on the comic book series created by Mike Richardson and Mark Verheiden, stars Jean-Claude Van Damme in this sci-fi action adaption about time travel in the year 2000. Van Damme is embittered time-cop Max Walker, member of the elite “Time Enforcement Commission”—created to enforce one simple rule: No One Goes Back. Criminals of the future do manage to break the law in their quest to alter the past for profit and power. When Walker sets out to derail a corrupt senator (Ron Silver), he is confronted by his own interrupted past when his beautiful wife (Mia Sara) is murdered during his investigation back in 1994.

LaserDisc Picture:
Produced under the quality assurance THX® Laser Disc Program, the presentation is another one of the select. The picture is perfectly framed at the 2.35:1 theatrical aspect ratio. Fleshtones are accurate, colors are vivid and blacks are solid and deep. Shadow detail is excellent as is contrast, sharpness and detail. The picture is solid with no apparent grain or distracting noise or artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Timecop was released theatrically ex-clusively in DTS Digital and the DTS Surround soundtrack is superb. It is fully aggressive in the surrounds and explosively dynamic throughout with excellent bass extension to below 25 Hz. Each scene projects a distinctive ambience putting you directly into the on screen action. This is one soundtrack that won’t disappoint and one movie that is sure to please Van Damme action fans.
