WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Only You is a romantic comedy about a young woman named Faith (Marisa Tomei), who has all her life believed her destiny is to marry Damon Bradley, a name she is given from an Ouija board as a child. Upon hearing this name again on a telephone message as she is about to marry a man with a different name, Faith hops a plane to Italy in search of Mr. Right. But when she finds him (Robert Downey, Jr.) she soon discovers he is lying about his name and almost gives up all hope of finding true love. But has true love already found her?

LaserDisc Picture:
Picture quality is, as has been with the initial Columbia TriStar releases in the HD master process, disappointing. The picture 1.83:1 matted appears “painted,” not natural. Actually some scenes are more natural than others which are exceedingly chromatic particularly with respect to inconsistent fleshtones. Contrast is excellent but images are soft and lack detail. The slightest grain and noise, as well as artifacts are apparent in some scenes.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The theatrical release was in SDDS. The sound here is disappointing with minimal surround envelopment.
