WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Radioland Murders is a fast-paced zany comedic mystery with rapid-fire gags set against a live 1940s radio production celebrating its first night on the air. From a storyline by George Lucas, the plot revolves around a series of murders at Chicago’s WBN. During the broadcast, employees are being murdered one by one, and station secretary Penny (Mary Stuart Masterson) and her estranged writer-husband team up to find the killer. This madcap comedy of one-liners and sight gags wonderfully evokes radio’s golden age.

LaserDisc Picture:
The scope image on this THX® quality as-sured transfer is framed at 2.32:1. Colors are vivid with natural fleshtones for an overall superb natural look with excellent contrast and detail. Images are sharp and detailed, and there is no apparent noise or artifacts.

The soundtrack is a good mix of enveloping spatiality complemented by the occasional sound effect, plus a great swinging big band music score.
