WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Richie Rich, based on the character ap-pearing in the Harvey Comic book, is a comedy about the world’s richest kid played by Macaulay Culkin. Richie has everything his wealthy family can buy—his personal baseball coach is Reggie Jackson; Claudia Schiffer is his fitness trainer; and he has a personal McDonald’s located within the family mansion. But Richie finds sharing his love of baseball with a group of ordinary sandlot kids to be an experience missing from his sheltered life of luxury. While his new buddies are dazzled by his outlandish possessions, a scheme is launched by a greedy executive (John Larroquette) in the family’s Rich Industries to do away with Richie’s parents and plunder the Rich family vault.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.85:1 picture is solid with no artifacts. Colors are vivid with natural fleshtones. While generally sharp, some scenes are rendered soft, but always natural looking.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack provides a subtle surround ambience at times due essentially to the music score, otherwise the sound is mono with the occasional directional sound effect.
