WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Sid & Nancy is the destructive but genuine love story of two of punk’s most notorious characters, Sid Vicious the bassist from the Sex Pistols played brilliantly by Gary Oldman and his girl friend Nancy Spungen, (Chloe Webb). The story is told in flashbacks, starting with their meeting in London and their drug-in-duced love affair intermingled with a portrait of the late 70’s punk scene and their crude and destructive life-style. At the band’s break-up they move to New York, hoping things will be better, but drugs and hopelessness prevail and we are brought back to the beginning of the movie as the bloody body of Nancy is discovered and Sid is led away to tell his story.
