WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Trapped In Paradise is a wonderfully concocted off the wall comedy with Nicolas Cage as Bill Firpo and his two brothers, Dave (Jon Lovitz) a compulsive liar and Alvin (Dana Carvey) a kleptomaniac. Bill is getting his life back on track when the two, just released ex-convicts, show up on his doorstep. Against his better judgement he is on his way to the sleepy town of Paradise where he becomes involved in a zany bank heist. The three bung-ling burglars somehow pull off the job but are unable to leave the hospitable town. It’s Christmas Eve and the inhabitants are showering them with a kindness that is beginning to melt their cold hearts, a bigger obstacle than an army of police or FBI agents.

LaserDisc Picture:
The scope picture is framed at 2.32:1. There is evidence of slight grain and noise in the darker scenes but shadow detail is generally good. Colors are vivid and contrast is excellent. Images are generally detailed and sharp, but fleshtones are inconsistent in some scenes.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has good surround envelopment and spatial ambience associated with the music and sound effects.
