WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Set in Dublin, Ireland in the 1960s, A Man Of No Importance stars four-time Academy Award® nominated actor Albert Finney, and a talented cast of ensemble characters. In this wonderfully touching and humorous film, Finney plays a kindly bus conductor who performs the works of his idol Oscar Wilde for his passengers and dreams of presenting Wilde’s play Salome for his town community. When the luminous Adele Rice (Tara Fitzgerald) steps onto the bus, he knows that he has found his Princess Salome. With her as his in-spiration he transforms a ragtag troupe of non-actors into a polished theatrical company. But not everyone wants Alfie to succeed and conspire to halt his “blasphemous” production.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is very natural in appearance and images are sharp and detailed. Fleshtones are accurate and colors are vividly rendered with deep, solid blacks. Some noise is apparent in the darker scenes. The picture has been matted at 1.66:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a great music score integrated with natural dialogue that provides subtle surround ambience throughout.
